Riga Technical University (RTU) is an accredited, internationally recognized European level university. The only technical university in Latvia providing studies is various technical fields and implementing high quality academic and professional study programmes. RTU is the oldest technical university in Baltic States - 14 October 2012 marks 150 years since the foundation of Riga Technical University, and second largest in Latvia.   

Long lasting traditions, advanced teaching methods, new technologies and innovative approach provide the University with the opportunity to ensure research excellence and offer exciting full-time or part-time studies in RTU in Engineering Sciences, Technologies, Natural and Environmental Sciences as well as in Architecture and Engineering Economics.

The work of RTU research associates and alumni has been internationally recognised, many of them working in enterprises and higher educational establishments in different European countries, Scandinavia, the USA and Japan.

RTU places significant focus on scientific research – both fundamental and applied which are then integrated in study process. It is the main research and engineering science centre in Latvia having equal numbers of academic and research staff.

RTU offer students wide possibilities for acquiring higher education with an access to highly developed research facilities. There are 30 research laboratories and centres and 33 research institutes. Academic staff comprising 466 chairs and professor’s groups is committed to helping the students to achieve high research-focussed standards.

RTU is the leading international university in Latvia having enrolled students from around 50 countries around the world.The university is also an active participant in international cooperation and entered into partnerships with various European, Asian and American universities.

RTU has an extensive cooperation network for student and staff exchange and academic development. RTU scientists are involved in many international projects.
